Knitting 101
Monday, September 8, 15 & 22 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Monday, October 6, 13 & 20 6:30-8:30 p.m.
In this beginner knitting class, you’ll learn all about yarn and gauge. You’ll learn to knit, purl, cast on, and bind off. You’ll also learn basic finishing techniques. Beginners will learn the Continental method of knitting.

Continental knitting

is much faster, more ergonomic and provides for more consistent, even tension. Continental knitting can also be done more efficiently when you are knitting in small spaces such as on the train. Note: on class Mondays, the Shop will open at 6:15 p.m.
$60 per student plus materials.
 
Lizard Ridge Afghan
Wednesday, September 17 6:30-8:30 p.m.

This will be a three part class. In the first session, I'll teach you how to create these gorgeous squares. The dates for session 2 and 3 will be determined based on class participation. In session 2, you'll learn how to put your squares together and in session 3, you'll learn how to crochet the border.
$20 per student per session plus materials.


Gullris Crochet and Knit Cardigan
Thursday, September 11, October 9 & October 30   6:30-8:30 p.m.
Cornelia Tuttle Hamilton created this gorgeous sweater for Araucania. The incredibly talented Shayne and I will be teaching this class as a team. In the first session, Shayne will teach you how to make the crochet squares that make up the bottom and sleeves. In the second session, I will teach you how to do the knitted pieces and the third session will teach you how to finish this masterpiece.
$60 per student plus materials.
 
Socks
Tuesday, September 16, 23 & 30   6:30-8:30 p.m.
In this beginner sock class, you'll learn how to knit in the round using double pointed needles and all about one piece sock construction including how to creat the heel, gusset and toe.
The class is $60 each per student plus materials.
 
Lady Eleanor Wrap
Tuesday, October 8 & 15   6:30-8:30 p.m.
In this intermediate class, you'll learn how to do entrelac using a gorgeous self-striping yarn. You'll also learn how to create the beautiful fringe. This is a really fun project that goes quickly once you know the technique and a trick or two!
The class is $40 each per student plus materials. Book purchase also required.
 
The Great American Aran Afghan - Now 4 days a month!
Ongoing – 4th Tuesday of the month   1:00-3:00 p.m.

Several years ago, XRX Books had an Aran square contest and knitters from all over the country submitted. The result is the Great American Aran Afghan which is made up of 20 spectacular Aran patterns.
$20 per month plus materials.

 

Dumpling Bags
Tuesday, October 7 & 14   6:30-8:30 p.m.
In this beginner felting class, you'll learn how to knit in the round using double pointed needles and cicrulars, how to make I-Cord, how to felt and how to embellish your darling bag using the pattern from the Fall 2008 Interweave Knits.
$40 per student plus materials.
Embellishments
Tuesday, October 21 & 28   6:30-8:30 p.m.
In this class, you'll learn basic embroidery to embellish your handknit items. You'll learn to create flowers, vines, etc.; how to do duplicate stitch which is an alternative to small project intarsia; and, how to read a chart. Bring four 4x4" stockinette swatches or a finished project you'd like to embellish. You'll also need a contrasting color yarn in the same weight as your swatches or project.
$40 per student plus materials.
 
Design Your Own Workshop!
Do you and at least two friends want to be guided through specific techniques? Then Design Your Own Workshop is for you! Call to schedule. A minimum of 3 students and two weeks notice is required.
Price based on length of class.
 
Shop Policy: Pre-registration is required. Class materials (yarn, tools) must be purchased at Nana’s. You will receive a 10% discount off all materials for the class. Full payment is due at the time of registration. A minimum of 3 students are required to hold a class. If 3 students have not registered 4 days prior to the start of the class, the class will be cancelled. You will be notified and given the opportunity to register for the next scheduled class or your registration fee will be refunded. No refunds will be given for missed classes. Please register early. You can register by phone with your credit card. Please arrive a half hour prior to the first scheduled class to purchase your materials.
